Abstract

There are various categories of dynamic instability. Those are dynamic buckling (or flutter), bifurcation, and dynamic snap-through. Critical conditions for the dynamic buckling are dictated by applied loads, applied momentum or frequency of excitation. This paper presents a few categories of dynamic instability phenomena. Some nonlinear problems shown to exemplify the dynamic instabilities were analyzed using adaptive bisection algorithm in the implicit direct time integration.
