A Graphical Method for the Evaluation of Principal Strains From Normal Strains

Graphical methods are available for determining principal strains when observed strains are measured along gage lines which make angles of 45 deg or 60 deg with each other. In this paper the author presents a simplified graphical method for the general case in which angles between the gage lines may have any arbitrary values.
