This study is concerned with the T-matrix method to solve the scattering of SH-waves by an inclined surface-breaking void in a homogeneous elastic half space. Additional complications arising from the inclination of the surface cavity have been overcome by using suitable basis functions for the surface displacements in the T-matrix method and the method of images. Numerical results are presented for elliptical cavities for two different angles of inclination, two aspect ratios for various angles of incidence, observation, and frequency. The T-matrix results are compared with the results obtained from a hybrid finite-element wave-expansion method.
