The objective of this paper is to show that state variable models and distribution free statistical techniques can be combined to serve as a framework for the collection and synthesis of divergent data in estimating the health impact of different classes of environmental chemicals on human populations. An example is given for the application of these methods to the assessment of the problem of methylmercury in fish.
