Abstract

In this paper the author discusses basic principles entering into quantity control and the use of production gages. The development of interchangeable manufacturing has many advantages and should result in economies. Considerable progress has been made by many large manufacturers. Tolerances should be as large as will result in satisfactory operation. The drawings and specifications should give tolerances. The author presents an analysis of data received from manufacturers regarding cost of inspection and percentage of scrapped parts.
