Abstract

Quality of aviation gasoline is the problem of the fuel manufacturer and the designer of aircraft engines. Present aviation gasoline is the result of demands for an increase of power output per unit of weight and displacement of aircraft engines. The improved engines represent designs intended to take full advantage of the best grades of gasoline available in sufficient quantities. Any future improvement in gasoline quality should bring about commensurate improvements in gasoline engines. The quality of aviation gasoline is thus setting the pace for improvement in aircraft engines of the spark-ignition type in use at present.
