The following technical briefs were submitted, peer-reviewed, and accepted for podium presentation at the ASME 2013 Frontiers in Medical Devices: Applications of Computer Modeling and Simulation conference1, held September 11-13, 2013 at the Marriott Inn and Conference Center (University of Maryland) and the White Oak campus of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Silver Spring, MD.

This meeting built on previous events held independently by ASME and the FDA but merged these two constituents through an organizing committee consisting of engineers from biomedical industry and regulatory scientists from the FDA. This partnership derived from the shared goal to construct a meeting in which key technical challenges and solutions within computational modeling of medical devices could be discussed in an open forum with significant and active participation from industry, academia, and the FDA. Multiple technical tracks were organized to encompass the breadth of content: patient-specific modeling, population...
