A nonlinear viscoelastic model for lubricant behavior under elastohydrodynamic conditions is derived which incorporates temperature changes in the contact. The formalism is written primarily in terms of convolution integrals. Calculations of temperature distributions in the contact and the variation of traction coefficient with shear rate are in qualitative agreement with experiment.
